POSITIVE PHYSICAL INTERVENTION
The below is a summary of the full policy. If interested in the complete document please contact the school. It is part of the policies relating to child protection issues. For further information please contact Claire Parker who is the designated Child Protection Co-ordinator. This policy has been produced in order to promote the safety and well-being of the pupils of this school. It has been produced in accordance with the Education and Inspections Act 2006 and Guidance on the Use of Force to Control or Restrain Pupils 2007 (DCSF). Physical Intervention ought rarely to happen within school as good relationships and clear expectations should be enough to support pupils who are becoming distressed or challenging. Nevertheless it is a regrettable fact that this will occur and it is incumbent on the school to ensure that any physical Intervention is carried out in a professional way and that the school is fully accountable for its actions. The school has adopted the Team Teach methods of de-escalation and physical intervention and all staff are trained to the recommended standards set out by B.I.L.D. If a child has been involved with a physical intervention the parent / carer will be informed as soon as possible. We teach children because we care for them. |
