Pupil Premium
Being extra funding provided by the government. This year the pupil premium has been used in two areas.
Amount Allocated
New Activity cost Both of the above activities have started this academic year. The Access Unit opened in September 2012 and the Music Provision started in January 2013. Staffing costs for these activities are part of the way the Pupil Premium is used. Summary of Intervention The Access Unit was born out of the need to provide a more consistent approach to supporting pupils with poor literacy and numeracy skills along with some emotional support. In past years this support has been provided when staffing has allowed, however the system was only providing irregular 1:1 support. Despite this irregularity there was good evidence of pupil progress so it was decided that with increased funding the school could build on the previous system and provide a much more rigorous system to support these pupils. Twenty-four pupils now have regular time slots to visit the Unit; some may only visit twice a week whilst others have up to two visits a day. This means that 33% of the school population are benefiting directly from the unit and the rest of the school have times when their classes are smaller and the approach to the lesson can be modified to suit the remaining pupils. Music Unlimited is provided by a peripatetic musician. It is designed to provide pupils with an individual opportunity to create and record studio style music. Pupils can work to write, play, sing and record their own music. Guitars, percussion, microphones and a keyboard are available for pupils to learn to play and use. The sessions are provided in a fun and non threatening manner, are bespoke and on occasions can complement therapies that pupils might be accessing. Seven pupils are accessing this provision at the moment. |
Intended Outcomes
The success of the Access Unit will be measured in several ways
The success of the Music provision will be measured by Reading the weekly reports that are written.
Both activities will be monitored by the Assistant Head who will report directly to the Acting Head. Success will be evidenced by collecting data from the above areas. The data will be included in the yearly Data Analysis that is completed by the school and reported to the Governors. Actual Impact Both programmes have not been running long enough for objective evidence to have been collected but subjectively staff and pupils both seem confident that the programmes are worthwhile and progress is starting to be made. Individual Pupil Premium Ramsden Hall Billericay has received funding for four pupils who fit into the Looked After Children Category. The money is being spent or going to be spent individually in the following areas.
Success for these individuals will be a certificate or successful attendance and completion of the external courses and using the above data as previously mentioned. |
